諏訪發明”神農王留電機”的季先生著眼於水與電氣的關係，開始研究電解水對植物的影響。
昭和27年 (1952年)
開發最早的電解水裝置。實驗對醫學及植物所帶來的影響。
昭和29年 (1954年)
裝造了應用於農業方面「神農王留藥電機」及進行在農業上應用成效的研究。
昭和33年 (1958年)
在許多關心電解水的醫師及一般使用者的臨床實驗及使用體驗之後，「神農王留藥電機」關始上市。
昭和35年 (1960年)

10月8日，厚生省藥務局長將「藥字第763號」告知各都道府縣長，認可電解水生成器為醫療用具。

在厚生省的指導下機能水研究振興財團成立。
平成6年 (1994年)
鹼性離子整水器檢討委員會發表了有關安全性與有效性的中期報告。另外，機能水研究振興財團主辦的第一屆機能水座談會於幕張會議中心舉行。(往後至2001年為止每年舉辦。)
平成7年 (1995年)
年初，日本林秀光博士發現解水，能消除活性氧(自由基)其抗氧化功效。同年，由前台大生化研究所呂鋒洲教授，亦以「超微量化學發生測法」再進一步𧬋實電解水，確實有抗氧化功效。
平成9年 (1997年)
5月日本九洲大學學院白畑實隆教授(遺傳子資源工學)，於國際學術雜誌BBRC發表論文，証實電解水可消除令人體DNA發生氧化的障害的活性氧。長期飲用可以健康長壽。
