Reduced Water Lab | Let the Tests Speak for Themselves: Visible Water Quality Performance

It’s easy to claim “good water” on the market, but the key is whether it can be measured and clearly verified across different dimensions. In the “KangenLAB” series, we use multiple common and visually appealing tests to demonstrate the differences between reduced water, electrolyzed water, and ordinary tap water, from residual chlorine, pH, antioxidant indicators, emulsifying power, penetration power, pesticide cleaning demonstrations, and hypochlorous acid water testing. These experiments provide a direct visual representation of the differences between reduced water, electrolyzed water, and ordinary tap water: not based on feelings, but on test results. Note: Results may vary depending on the water source, baseline water quality, and testing conditions in different regions. This page focuses on demonstration and is intended for educational purposes regarding the characteristics of reduced water. If you are comparing Kangen Water with other water filtration solutions, these experiments can help you quickly understand the characteristics of electrolyzed reduced water.

KangenLAB's 7 major experimental projects help you understand the "strength" of reduced water.

Chlorine Testing | Visible Differences in Residual Chlorine

Using a chlorine test kit, the electrolyzed water/reduced water produced by the Kangenwater water purifier showed no residual chlorine. In contrast, tap water showed an orange-yellow color, indicating the presence of chlorine residue. When we placed our hand in the cup to simulate washing, the color of the reagent gradually cleared, demonstrating that chlorine is absorbed through the skin’s pores in just 10 seconds. Heating tap water during showering causes even more chlorine to evaporate and be absorbed by the body.

pH value test | Clearly quantify the pH value of water

“pH value” is one of the most intuitive and easily understood water quality indicators. Do you know whether the water you drink is acidic or alkaline? Enagic reduced water is alkaline and can be drunk directly for health benefits. Although tap water is also alkaline, it is best not to drink it directly due to its high chlorine content. Drinking reduced water can also help neutralize acidic foods such as meat consumed in daily life.

Antioxidant Test | Demonstrating Reduction Properties with Indicators

Through experiments involving the addition of ORP and iodine, it was found that because iodine is a very strong oxidizing agent (a super oxidizing agent), the ability to resist its oxidizing power indicates a certain level of antioxidant capacity. If the water in the glass still appears brown, it means it has been oxidized. Among tap water, distilled water, and mineral water, only reduced water has the ability to clarify the water, achieving an antioxidant effect. Because electrolyzed reduced water has a strong negative potential, even a small amount ingested into our bodies has a certain neutralizing effect on oxidation.

Emulsifying power demonstration | Water quality performance related to cleaning

In our demonstration, we poured cooking oil into two separate cups, then added tap water and electrolyzed water (reduced water for cleaning) to one cup. The video shows that the reduced water disperses and emulsifies the oil more quickly, demonstrating its strong cleaning power.

Penetration Test | Visual Comparison of Penetration Performance

In our experiment, we added both tap water and reduced water. Because electrolyzed reduced water has stronger permeability (composed of 4-6 molecules per cluster, while ordinary water is composed of 15-20 molecules per cluster), reduced water exhibited significantly better permeability.
Reduced water has the following advantages:
1. Small water molecule clusters, resulting in stronger permeability
2. Faster absorption by cells
3. Reduced ingredient costs and increased food value.

Pesticide Washing Test | Understanding the "Cleaning" Concept of Electrolyzed Water

In daily life, many people use different methods to wash fruits and vegetables. In our experiment, we placed fresh cherry tomatoes in two cups of water, one with tap water and the other with strong reducing water. The electrolyzed reducing water changed color after contacting pesticides and preservatives. Farmers usually add waterproof, oil-soluble pesticides to prevent them from being washed away by rain, and these pesticides may also contain other bleach, insecticides, and fluorescent agents. Ordinary tap water is insufficient to remove all pesticide residues. Note: The washing effect will be affected by the surface of the food, the type of residue, the soaking time, and the method of handling.

Hypochlorous acid water demonstration | Test demonstration for cleaning purposes

In our demonstration of cleaning applications, we used highly acidic water (pH 2.5) generated by our water reduction machine. When we dropped this acidic water onto a microscope teeming with bacteria, the bacteria lost their activity within 10 seconds, demonstrating excellent sterilization.
The Kitasato Research Institute in Japan has confirmed that highly acidic water with a pH below 2.7 can kill common harmful bacteria within 10 seconds. Hypochlorous acid, as a natural disinfectant, is actually more effective than bleach, odorless, and has no side effects, making it suitable for use in enclosed spaces. Our electrolyzed reduced water system can produce an unlimited supply of highly acidic water (pH 2.5), ensuring the safety of your family in daily life.

Frequently Asked Questions

It's recommended to first look at the chlorine and pH tests, and then consider the emulsification and penetration demonstrations based on whether you have cleaning needs. If you're comparing drinking water purifiers or water refining systems, these two aspects will make it easier to establish a basic judgment.

It can be used in cleaning and hygiene management scenarios where safety is a high priority. Unlike ordinary cleaning agents or bleach, hypochlorous acid water can be used in sealed environments, has no pungent odor, and is harmless to the human body.

Contact us directly via WhatsApp, providing your location, installation requirements, and main purpose (drinking, cooking, cleaning, etc.). We will suggest appropriate procedures and assist you in understanding water filter installation and other model configurations.
